Winston Duke, renowned for his role in ‘Black Panther,’ is set to be the host for Move Afrika: Rwanda.

Winston Duke, the highly praised actor renowned for portraying M’baku in the ‘Black Panther’ films, is set to host Move Afrika: Rwanda, a worldwide citizen experience featuring the headline performance by Kendrick Lamar, the Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning artist. The event is scheduled to occur at BK Arena on December 6.

Duke, a renowned global philanthropist and UN Ambassador for Sustainable Tourism, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event. He emphasized the limitless possibilities for Rwanda and the entire African continent, stating his pride in participating in the inaugural Move Afrika event in the picturesque city of Kigali. According to Duke, this event is not just a mere spectacle but marks the commencement of a significant transformation in the African entertainment industry, with far-reaching economic implications for Rwanda and across the Continent.

Sharing the stage with Duke are media personality and entrepreneur Davy-Carmel Ingabire, along with poet Fred Mfuranzima, ensuring a diverse and vibrant entertainment experience for the audience.

Move Afrika, curated by pgLang, is poised to establish itself as a recurring event on the global entertainment calendar. As a ticketed affair, it seeks to trailblaze a unique international music touring circuit throughout Africa, using Rwanda as its inaugural platform for the next five years.

In collaboration with the Rwanda Development Board, this initiative aims to host Move Afrika annually in Kigali over the next five years, with plans to extend the tour schedule to encompass five countries by 2025. This endeavor aspires to set a new benchmark for entertainment touring events on the African continent.

Global Citizen, the driving force behind Move Afrika, has a track record of impactful events in Africa, such as the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in 2018, which featured renowned artists like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran, Usher, Eddie Vedder, and Chris Martin in Johannesburg, South Africa. Other notable events include Global Citizen Live: Lagos in 2021, showcasing Davido, Femi Kuti, and Tiwa Savage at Fela Kuti’s New Afrika Shrine, as well as the Global Citizen Festival: Accra in 2022, bringing Usher, SZA, Stormzy, and TEMS to the iconic Black Star Square.
