DESCRIPTION:

Akagera will give you the great safaris experience of your life in the country of thousand hills. This is one of the best savannah park in Africa based on its four eco-habitats of more than 8,000 animal and bird species. The uniqueness of Akagera National Park will give you unique experience of rolling hills, lakes views, open savannah and the largest protected swamps in central Africa.

Morning boat cruise in Ihema Lake will give you another experience with an opportunity of spotting different species of birds and other animals like hippos and crocodiles. The distance from Kigali to Akagera Park is about 2 ½ hour drive, 105.2 km.

Detailed One Day Itinerary to Akagera National Park.

• At 4:45AM, We will pick you up from your hotel or at a designated area and embark your journey to Akagera National park with a stopover at Imigongo café for a quick breakfast;
• Arrival at the Park reception, registration and drive towards Ihema lake for one hour boat cruise;
• After boat tour you will go back to the reception of the park for briefing from the park guide. The game drive will start from Hill sides to overlook the best views of Akagera National Park and then take lake shore road to meet some animals coming for water or grazing on the lake shores.  Around 1 PM, we will stop by at Mihindi picnic area for a lunch before we continue for the game drive to Muhana plain and Kilala plain and experience animal interactions;
• Akagera park has the big five animals including the buffaloes, Elephants, Leopards, lions and Rhinos. Other animals to expect are giraffes, hippos, Zebras, Bushbucks, and waterbucks and other different bird species. Some animals are spotted occasionally, based on the timings and weather; We will exit from the north of the park, this will be a 3 ½ hours’ drive back to Kigali, a 130Km distance.

Payment Policy

• An advance of 80% is required at the time of booking. The balance or final payment of 20% is due at arrival in Kigali after checking in at the hotel;
• If the reservation is made within 45 days prior to the arrival date, full payment is required at the time of booking;
• In case payment is done by debit / credit card, additional fee of 3% is required;
• The copy of proof of payment required and sent to the company’s business email (info@thinkotours.com) in order to confirm the booking.

Cancellation Policy

In the event that you decide to cancel a trip after booking it, certain cancellation charges will be payable to our supplier as your payments are immediately used to obtain lodging, tours and services at the best rates.

You understand and accept when booking through us that you are bound by our supplier’s terms and conditions and accordingly any policies they may have on cancellation charges.

• Cancellation fee of 25% if the trip is cancelled less than 90 days prior to the arrival;
• Cancellation fee of 50% if the trip is cancelled less than 60 days prior to the arrival;
• Cancellation fee of 100% if the trip is cancelled less than 45 days prior to the arrival;
• Payment for Gorilla Permits is nonrefundable.
