The 6 days trip in Rwanda for wildlife adventure will allow you to visit the Akagera National Park located in the Eastern side of Rwanda which is a home of different animals whose the Big Five Animals, and the Volcanoes National Park located in the North of Rwanda with its mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

Detailed 6 days Rwanda Wildlife Experience

Day one: Welcome to Rwanda!

You will be picked up by our guide/driver when you arrive at the Kigali International Airport who will transfer you to your hotel where you will spend the night. Distance from airport to hotel: 20 minutes

Day 2: Drive to home of big five (Akagera National Park)

Breakfast at the hotel, the driver guide will take you to Akagera National park and the drive will take about 2.5 hours.

After registration at the park reception, you will drive to Lake Ihema for morning boat cruise.  Ihema lake is known to be second largest lake in Rwanda after Kivu lake and famous lakes in East Africa to have large concentration of hippos.

During this experience, you will learning the symbiotic relationship between hippos and crocodiles as well as aquatic birds.

After this great experience you will be taken back to the reception for briefing before starting a half day game drive in Akagera National Park (5 hours). This half game drive will start from the south of the park with the chance of seeing some animals like giraffes, buffalos, impala, zebras, topi, elephants,……. After game drive you will be taken to the hotel for check in and relaxation.

At 5:30 PM the park car and the guide will pick you up from the Hotel for starting the night game drive which a nice opportunity for spotting the animals normally rare to see during the day like leopard, hyena, even lions which are more active during the night.

Day 3:  Adventure full day game drive

This full day adventure game drive will start from southern part of the park and end at north.

During this adventure game drive you will be lucky to spot some of the big five animals like lions, elephants, buffalos, Rhinos and leopards. Large number of zebras and many antelope species will be spotted along road sides. The beautiful sceneries of rolling hills, plains, lakes, swamps will be give an idea of the uniqueness of Akagera National Park.

Accommodation: Karenge Bush Camp.

Day 4: Transfer to Musanze

After breakfastast from Karenge Bush Camp, you will have around six hours drive north of the country via Ngarama Rock and this will lead you to Musanze, Rwanda’s second-largest city and the country’s tourism hub.

On the way a visit to Ngarama Rock will be done. This rock is beautiful historical site that sits on an area of about 3 hectares and is attributed to Umwami Rudahigwa Ndoli, comprising several footprints. This magical rock is able to make an echo when hit by metal or stone.

A packed lunch will be taken at this Rwanda king historical and magical site and after lunching there.

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla trekking 

06h30: Early breakfast precedes the day, before heading to the park headquarters for the gorilla

Trekking for briefing at 07h00. You will then transfer you to the starting point of your guided walk. To begin this amazing adventure at 08h00 Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is often described as “life changing” and with good reason. With only an estimated 880 Gorillas left in the world, to see these gentle creatures in their natural habitat are a truly unique moment. Hikes in the mountains can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours (depending on the family allocated to your group and their location). The journey back can take just as long, but you are often carried along by the euphoria you feel after seeing the gorillas.

For gorilla trekking, you will be in rainforest, so it will more than likely than not, rain. Warm clothing is required as well as walking/hiking boots, a hat and lightweight parka/raincoat. Garden gloves, to avoid stinging nettles, and gaiters, are recommended.

After a most memorable experience encountering these creatures, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali for departure

After breakfast at the hotel, check out will be done and start the journey towards Kigali and your driver guide will drive you to the airport for your departure flight.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Payment Policy

• 100% payment for the gorilla trek permit is required upon confirmation (US$ 1,500. – each);
• For the other servicers, 80% (at least) is also required at the time of booking. The balance or final payment of 20% is due at arrival in Kigali after checking in at the hotel;
• If the reservation is made within 45 days prior to the arrival date, full payment is required at the time of booking;
• In case payment is done by debit / credit card, additional fee of 3% is required;
• The copy of proof of payment required and sent to the company’s business email (info@thinkotours.com) in order to confirm the booking.

Cancellation Policy

In the event that you decide to cancel a trip after booking it, certain cancellation charges will be payable to our supplier as your payments are immediately used to obtain lodging, tours and services at the best rates.

You understand and accept when booking through us that you are bound by our supplier’s terms and conditions and accordingly any policies they may have on cancellation charges.

• Cancellation fee of 25% if the trip is cancelled less than 90 days prior to the arrival;
• Cancellation fee of 50% if the trip is cancelled less than 60 days prior to the arrival;
• Cancellation fee of 100% if the trip is cancelled less than 45 days prior to the arrival;
• Payment for Gorilla Permits is nonrefundable.
