Journey to the African Rift Valley and go kayaking and Boat cruise trip on Lake Kivu. A journey of discovery and paddle peacefully along the spectacular coast of one of Africa’s Great Lakes and witness the verdant landscape, vibrant local communities, birds and islands of Lake Kivu on the side of Kibuye where 3 islands will be visited, as well as Nyamyumba hot spring.

Day One: Visit of Ndaba waterfall and boat cruise in Kivu Lake

At 8:30 AM, We will pick you up from your hotel and embark your journey to Karongi (Western part of Rwanda). On the way there will be a stopover at Ndaba rock and waterfall located in Karongi District.

Ndaba Rocks and waterfalls is part of the captivating cultural and remarkable historic attraction sites in Rwanda and one of the most visited tourist sites for its mythical/legendary stories that surround it.

After check in at the hotel and lunch, you will start doing boat cruise in Kivu lake where you will visit 3 islands know as Napoleon Island (for a short hiking and bats), Monkey island (for the Columbus monkeys), and Amahoro (Peace Island). This boat cruise will be an opportunity to see swimming cows.

The distance between Kigali and Karongi is 126.8 Km for around 3h 20min drive.

Day Two: Transfer to Gisenyi/Rubavu, boat cruise and you will drive back to Kigali

After breakfast, you will leave Karongi at 10 AM heading to Rubavu (former Gisenyi town) for lunch with enjoying the fresh fish from Kivu Lake.

After lunch you will have a boat cruise in Kivu Lake On the Side of Rubavu (optional) with visit of the Nyamyumba Hot Spring. From the boat you will have a great view of surrounding rift valley and volcanoes in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and cross the canoes. After you will transfer back to Kigali

Distance: around 140 Km with 2hr 20 min driving

Bring a hat, sunscreen and wear light clothes – such as shorts and a t-shirt that can get wet and a change of clothes to change into at the end.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Booking Confirmation

To confirm a booking, a deposit of 70% of the total cost of the tour is required. And the balance of 30% has to be paid 30 days before the tour start date. If the booking is being confirmed within 30 days to the tour start date, then the total tour cost should be paid in full.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Any cancellation must be done via the email of Thinko Tours and Travels, and the cancellations for paid bookings will be refunded less the cancellation fees for administration cost and other costs as below:

You understand and accept when booking through us that you are bound by our supplier’s terms and conditions and accordingly any policies they may have on cancellation charges.

• Cancellation fee of 30% if the tour is cancelled within 30 days and above prior to the arrival date;
• Cancellation fee of 50% if the tour is cancelled between 16 and 30 days prior to the arrival date;
• Cancellation fee of 100% if the tour is cancelled within 15 days and less prior to the arrival date;

The refund will be done to the same account and using the same mode which was used for the payments. Note that there is no refund in the event of a no show for the existing reservations.
