Jurrien Timber was impressed by the sense of unity he observed in Rwanda.

On Thursday, December 14, Jurrien Timber, the defender for Arsenal FC, engages in discussions with reporters at Kigali Pele Stadium.

Jurrien Timber, a defender for Arsenal FC, expressed his admiration for the prevailing sense of unity and harmony during his three-day visit to Rwanda, which commenced on Thursday, December 14.

“It’s truly wonderful to be in Rwanda. I’m thoroughly enjoying my time here. The people are warm and welcoming, and it seems like everyone has a smile on their face. Rwanda has lived up to the positive things I’ve heard about it, and my experience so far has been fantastic,” Timber shared while visiting a playground near Kigali Pele Stadium to observe young footballers.

During his initial day in Rwanda, Timber visited the Genocide Memorial Centre and paid his respects to the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.

“It’s crucial to grasp the history of Rwanda and what transpired here. I value the peace that prevails in the country now,” he expressed.

The 22-year-old took some time to converse with young footballers and shared a glimpse of his own story.

“My biggest inspiration is my mother. She holds a special place in my heart. When I was young, we didn’t have much, but she supported me, and I owe my current position to her,” he remarked.

Discussing his career, the former Ajax player emphasized that his standout game was the Community Shield against Manchester City, despite sustaining an injury during it.

He also disclosed that Manchester City’s Erling Haaland is the most formidable striker he has faced.

“My best game was Arsenal against Manchester City in the Community Shield, even though I got injured. The most challenging striker I have faced is Erling Haaland,” he said.

Timber praised the “Visit Rwanda” project and conveyed his gratitude for the enthusiastic support Rwandans exhibit for Arsenal.

“I’ve noticed numerous Arsenal shirts on the streets; people genuinely support Arsenal here,” he remarked.

Timber’s visit is part of the collaboration between Visit Rwanda and Arsenal FC, with the club serving as the inaugural Sleeve Sponsor and Official Tourism Partner.
