DESCRIPTION

The 6 days trip in Rwanda for wildlife adventure will allow you to visit the Akagera National Park located in the Eastern side of Rwanda which is a home of different animals whose the Big Five Animals, and the Volcanoes National Park located in the North of Rwanda with its mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

6 Days highlights Rwanda Wildlife Experience

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park + boat cruise  

Day 3: full day game drive in Akagera National Park + night game drive

Day 4: Transfer to Musanze

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking+ Transfer to Kigali

Day 6: Departure to Airport

Day1: Welcome to Rwanda!

You will be picked up by our guide/driver when you arrive at the Kigali International Airport who will transfer you to your hotel where you will spend the night. Distance from airport to hotel: 20 minutes.

Accommodation: Chez Lando Hotel / Mille Collines hotel

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park + boat cruise  

After early breakfast at the hotel, the driver guide will take you to Akagera National park and the drive will take about 2.5 hours.

After registration at the park reception, you will will start the game drive within Akagera National Park which is a home of different animals like elephants, lions, buffalos, zebras, …… At 4:30 pm you will do sunset boat cruise in Ihema Lake which is known to be second largest lake in Rwanda after Kivu lake and famous lakes in East Africa to have large concentration of hippos.

During this experience, you will learning the symbiotic relationship between hippos and crocodiles as well as aquatic birds.

Day 3:  Adventure full day game drive + night game drive

This full day adventure game drive will start from southern part of the park and end at north.

During this adventure game drive you will be lucky to spot some of the big five animals like lions, elephants, buffalos, Rhinos and leopards. Large number of zebras and many antelope species will be spotted along road sides. The beautiful sceneries of rolling hills, plains, lakes, swamps will be give an idea of the uniqueness of Akagera National Park. At 5:30 PM the park car and the guide will pick you up from the Hotel for starting the night game drive which a nice opportunity for spotting the animals normally rare to see during the day like leopard, hyena, even lions which are more active during the night.

Day 4: Transfer to Musanze

After breakfastast, you will have around six hours drive north of the country via Ngarama Rock and this will lead you to Musanze, Rwanda’s second-largest city and the country’s tourism hub.

On the way a visit to Ngarama Rock will be done. This rock is beautiful historical site that sits on an area of about 3 hectares and is attributed to Umwami Rudahigwa Ndoli, comprising several footprints. This magical rock is able to make an echo when hit by metal or stone.

A packed lunch will be taken at this Rwanda king historical and magical site and after lunching there.

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla trekking

06h30: Early breakfast precedes the day, before heading to the park headquarters for the gorilla

Trekking for briefing at 07h00. You will then transfer you to the starting point of your guided walk. To begin this amazing adventure at 08h00 Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is often described as “life changing” and with good reason. With only an estimated 880 Gorillas left in the world, to see these gentle creatures in their natural habitat are a truly unique moment. Hikes in the mountains can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours (depending on the family allocated to your group and their location). The journey back can take just as long, but you are often carried along by the euphoria you feel after seeing the gorillas.

For gorilla trekking, you will be in rainforest, so it will more than likely than not, rain. Warm clothing is required as well as walking/hiking boots, a hat and lightweight parka/raincoat. Garden gloves, to avoid stinging nettles, and gaiters, are recommended. After lunch you will be transferred to Kigali.

After a most memorable experience encountering these creatures, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

Day 6: Departure

Depending on the flight time, this day will be an opportunity for shopping and doing a tour of the city in case the flight is scheduled in the afternoon or evening. After you will be transferred to the airport for the departure.
