One of the oldest rainforests in Africa, Nyungwe is rich in biodiversity and spectacularly beautiful. The mountainous region is teaming with wildlife, including a small population of chimpanzees as well as 12 other species of primate, including the Lhotse’s monkey endemic to the Albertine Rift. Despite the canopy walkway, it is a perfect paradise for the discerning travelers in search of the quiet place to reconnect with themselves and nature.

5 Days highlights of the trip to Nyungwe National Park

Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe and Canopy Walk 

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and tea plantation tour

Day 4: Water fall and transfer to Kigali

Day 5: Kigali City Tour (optional) + Departure

DETAILED ITINERARY 

Day 1: Welcome to Rwanda

You will be picked up by our guide/driver when you arrive at the Kigali International Airport who will transfer you to your hotel where you will spend the night. Distance from airport to hotel: 20 minutes.

Accommodation: Chez Lando Hotel / Mille Collines / Serena Hotel

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park for Canopy Walk

At 7:00 AM, We will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali towards Nyungwe National Park, south west. The distance between Kigali and Nyungwe National park is approximately 230Km, and the duration for a trip is between 5-6 hours, including a lunch break on the way to the park. By reaching the reception of the park, registration will be done and go for the canopy walk tour to over view the beauty of this tropical rainforest, beautiful hills, tea plantations, impenetrable areas.

In the evening, check in and overnight and dinner at Chimpanzee Lodge or Nyungwe Top View hill Hotel.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and Tea plantation tour

Early morning, pick up from the hotel and heading to the reception of the Park for briefing and start with Chimpanzee trekking as well as other species of primates on the way, birds watching of 300 species, 29 of them are endemics in Albertine rift and big varieties of plants.

After lunch at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel, from 3pm we will start a tea plantation tour. Later, we will go back to the hotel.

Day 4: Waterfall trail and transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, another briefing will be done at the reception of the Nyungwe National Park before starting the walk towards the waterfall. On the way, there is a chance of seeing monkeys and have information on different plants of the forest. After visiting waterfall, lunch will be served at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel before hitting the road for coming back to Kigali.

Day 5: Kigali City Tour (optional) + Departure

Depending on the flight time, there is an option of doing Kigali City Tour by visiting at least 2 museums and Kimironko market known as a tourist market. After it will be time for the departure.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Payment Policy

• The deposit of 80% as an advance is required at the time of booking. The balance or final payment of 20% is due at the arrival in Rwanda after check in at the hotel;
• In case the booking is done 45 days precedent the trip, the whole amount (100%) of the package will be required to confirm the booking;
• In case payment is done by debit / credit card, additional fee of 3% is required;
• The copy of proof of payment required and sent to the company’s business email (info@thinkotours.com) in order to confirm the booking.

Cancellation Policy

In the event that you decide to cancel a trip after booking it, certain cancellation charges will be payable to our supplier as your payments are immediately used to obtain lodging, tours and services at the best rates.

You understand and accept when booking through us that you are bound by our supplier’s terms and conditions and accordingly any policies they may have on cancellation charges.

• Cancellation fee of 25% if the trip is cancelled less than 90 days prior to the arrival;
• Cancellation fee of 50% if the trip is cancelled less than 60 days prior to the arrival;
• Cancellation fee of 100% if the trip is cancelled less than 45 days prior to the arrival;
• Payment for Gorilla Permits is nonrefundable.
