The trip to Akagera National Park will give you the great safaris experience of your life in the country of thousand hills. This is one of the best savannah park in Africa based on its four eco-habitats of more than 8,000 animal and bird species. The uniqueness of Akagera National Park will give you unique experience of rolling hills, lakes views, open savannah and the largest protected swamps in central Africa.

Boat cruise in Ihema lake will give an opportunity of spotting different species of birds and some animals like crocodile, hypos, ….Distance from Kigali to Akagera Park is about 2 ½ hours’ drive, 105.2 km.

Day One: Full Day Akagera game drive and Boat cruise.

At 5:30AM, We will pick you up from your hotel and embark your journey to Akagera National park with a stretch stopover at imigongo café for a quick breakfast. Distance from Kigali to Akagera Park is about 2 ½ hour drive, 105.2 km.

Arrival at the Park reception, registration and briefing from the park guide. We will do a full day game drive and conservation tour where you will have a chance to see giraffes, zebras, buffalos, hippos, crocodiles, …. and bird species.

At 4:30 PM you will start sunset boat cruise in Ihema Lake where you will see different species of birds, as well as some animals like hippos, crocodiles, ….

Lake Ihema is known to be second largest lake in Rwanda after lake Kivu and famous lakes in East Africa to have large concentration of hippos.

During this experience, you will learning the symbiotic relationship between hippos and crocodiles as well as aquatic birds. After this great experience you will be taken back to the hotel/lodge for dinner and a night stay.

Day Two: Full Day Akagera Wildlife experience.

This full day adventure game drive will start from southern part of the park and end at north of the park.

During this adventure, there is a chance to spot some big five animals like lions, elephants, buffalos, Rhinos and leopards. Large number of zebras and many antelopes along road sides like impalas, waterbucks, beautiful sceneries of rolling hills, plains, lakes, swamps will give the uniqueness of Akagera National Park. After reaching the park exit on the north, you will be driven to Kigali.

Payment Policy

• An advance of 80% is required at the time of booking. The balance or final payment of 20% is due at arrival in Kigali after checking in at the hotel;
• If the reservation is made within 45 days prior to the arrival date, full payment is required at the time of booking;
• In case payment is done by debit / credit card, additional fee of 3% is required;
• The copy of proof of payment required and sent to the company’s business email (info@thinkotours.com) in order to confirm the booking.

Cancellation Policy

In the event that you decide to cancel a trip after booking it, certain cancellation charges will be payable to our supplier as your payments are immediately used to obtain lodging, tours and services at the best rates.

You understand and accept when booking through us that you are bound by our supplier’s terms and conditions and accordingly any policies they may have on cancellation charges.

• Cancellation fee of 25% if the trip is cancelled less than 90 days prior to the arrival;
• Cancellation fee of 50% if the trip is cancelled less than 60 days prior to the arrival;
• Cancellation fee of 100% if the trip is cancelled less than 45 days prior to the arrival;
• Payment for Gorilla Permits is nonrefundable.
